The king of Czech pop, Karel Gott, has just become a father for the fourth time. On Thursday afternoon, his wife Ivana gave birth to a healthy baby girl, which the couple named Nelly Sofia Gottová. Nelly Sofia weighed 3.16 kg at birth and measured 49 centimeters, a spokesperson for the couple said. The baby girl is the couple’s second – her older sister Charlotte Ella is now two years of age. This is Gott’s fourth daughter, Nelly Sofia joins not only Charlotte Ella, but also Dominika and Lucie, children from previous relationships who are now both grown up.

In this edition of Music Profile we take a brief look back at the long career of the undisputed king of Czech pop music, Karel Gott. The multi-million selling singer released his first single, a jazzy duet, in 1962. Just twelve months later Gott was voted Czechoslovakia's best singer; by the end of the decade he had become an international star.

The Czech pop icon Karel Gott married his long-term partner, 32-year old Ivana Macháčková, in Las Vegas on Monday. The newly-wed couple also confirmed that they were expecting their second child; their daughter Charlotte Ella was born in April 2006. The sixty-eight year old singer already has two daughters from previous relationships, but he has never been married before.

Czech singer Karel Gott has won the overall TyTy award for most popular TV personality, awarded yearly in the Czech Republic. The awards ceremony was televised in the Czech Republic on Saturday night. Mr Gott also triumphed in the best male singer category, while Lucie Bila won in the best female singer category. In other categories: Miroslav Donutil and Daniela Sinkorova were chosen as the country's most popular actors. The annual TyTy awards are voted on by TV viewers themselves.

This Saturday, leading artists gathered at Prague's State Opera to receive and present the Cesky Slavik - Czech Nightingale - music awards. The event was hosted by celebrity radio presenters Milos Pokorny and Roman Ondracek. Among the winners: thirteen year old Ewa Farna from Ostrava, who was voted best newcomer of the year. Sixty-six year old singer Karel Gott is the proud father of a healthy newborn baby girl. Charlotte Ella was born early on Sunday morning. The Czech pop icon, who has never been married, already has two daughters from previous relationships. Mr Gott's 30-year old partner, Ivana Machackova, is two years younger than his oldest daughter.
