Today's body part is the nose, the prominent part of the human face which serves as the organ of smell. Both its position on the face and its function inspired our forefathers to coin idioms and sayings using the word nose or nos.

This new series of Radio Prague's language-teaching programme examines the Czech language from head to toe. Last time we looked at some idioms using the word head or hlava. We are not going to move any further today's because it's time to take a look at a very important organ located on the head - the eye - oko.

Hello and welcome to our new Czech language series in which we look at Czech from head to toe and it is the word head we'll start with today. In Czech it is hlava and just like in English, the word is the core of many idioms. In fact, so many, that only a tiny fraction can fit into our programme today.
