An ultralight plane crashed into the Labe river on Saturday afternoon, Czech Television reports. The pilot was found dead in the river. An investigation into the crash will be carried out with the involvement of local experts.

A similar incident happened two months earlier near the village of Hrušovany in the west of the country. The two crew members who were recovered survived but suffered injuries.

The Czech Republic’s Air Navigation Services have prepared for investigators all the documents required to analyse a Smartwings flight in which the pilots flew from Greece to Prague last week with only one functioning engine, Czech Television reported. The documentation includes a transcription of communication between dispatchers and the air crew, which will reveal whether the team admitted to the engine malfunction.

The documents will be handed over to the Civil Aviation Authority and the Air Accidents Investigation Institute. The materials are intended for investigators and will not be made public.

For the past five years one of the world’s oldest aircraft manufacturers, Aero Vodochody, has been developing a next generation jet trainer. Engineers say that one of its key selling points is its ability to train pilots from beginning to end, a new concept in how pilots are taught. The Czech military aircraft producer Aero Vodochody is marking the company’s 100th birthday with an exhibition documenting the development of its aircraft over the years. Titled “A century with Aero”, the exhibition showcases veterans – from its very first Aero A-1 which took to the skies in 1919 to its latest L-39 NG model launched in December of last year.

Czech aircraft manufacturer Aero Vodochody on Friday officially presented its new aircraft, L-39NG, a next generation model of the legendary L-39 Albatros, produced by the company since the 1960.

Czech pilot Roman Kramařík has completed a flight around the world in a small Cessna airplane marking the 100th anniversary of the foundation of Czechoslovakia. Over the course of 46 days, the one-time aerobatic pilot crossed three oceans and three continents, covering over 40,000 kilometres. I met with Mr. Kramařík just a few days after he landed in Prague and I first asked him what made him set out on this adventurous journey:

A two-day air show got underway at an airfield outside Hradec Králové in East Bohemia on Saturday. Around 40 planes and helicopters from eight states are on display at the 25th edition of the CIAF international aviation festival.

Among the attractions is an acrobatic show by the Latvian Baltic Bees group, flying L-39 Albatros planes, and a Ukrainian SU-27 fighter jet.

Boeing’s gigantic 787 Dreamliner is set to launch regular service from Václav Havel Airport Prague. The Dreamliner, which has a capacity for 254 passengers, will be deployed by Qatari Airways on the route from Prague to Doha as of October 28, Prague’s Václav Havel Airport informed in a press release on Monday.

The Zeppelin NT, the biggest helium-filled airship in the world, manufactured since the 1990s in Friedrichshafen, Germany landed on Prague’s Letnany Airfield around 3pm on Friday.

It should remain in the Czech Republic for about a week and fans will be able to admire it on several PR flights around the country.

People interested in buying a flight on it will have to go to Friedrichshafen where the company offers a selection of 13 tourist flights to different destinations.

The airship can accommodate up to 12 passengers.
