Well it's the latest episode in the battle for TV Nova that makes the headlines in all the papers today, a battle that controversial director Vladimir Zelezny appears to have won, or at least not lost - he remains director of the station, for now at least. Also making the news is the latest suicide bombing in Israel - the papers report that this time the Palestinian group Hamas struck at Jerusalem's Hebrew University, a college where Jewish and Arab students mix freely.

Wednesday's dailies' front pages share very little in common and the topics they cover vary to a great degree. Most papers offer more details about the disappearance of Chagall's painting "Jacob's Ladder" from the gallery Zlata Husa which belongs to TV magnate Vladimir Zelezny.

It's the Karel Srba case that continues to draw attention of most of Tuesday's dailies, although the papers assign varying importance to the story of Karel Srba's cooperation with military intelligence services. Besides that, the theft of a 700.000 US dollar painting from the collection of television magnate Vladimir Zelezny makes the front pages of most papers today.

Today, all the dailies lead with photographs showing the tragic accident in Ukraine where a jet crashed into a crowd of spectators at an air-show, leaving 83 dead. The dailies also stay with the Karel Srba case, which has drawn in Mr Srba's former superior, ex-foreign minister Jan Kavan.

All of Friday's dailies feature similar main stories. The Czech Central Bank has announced significant cuts in interest rates. As a result, Czech businesses will improve their financial standing and Czech citizens will be able to borrow money at more favorable rates. On the other hand, saving accounts will not be as profitable as they were in the past.

Thursday's dailies continue to cover affairs related to the alleged plot to kill journalist Sabina Slonkova. According to Lidove noviny, there is little convincing evidence against the chief suspect in the case, former Foreign Ministry official Karel Srba.

Unsurprisingly all of Wednesday's dailies give a great deal of attention to the alleged plot to kill investigative journalist Sabina Slonkova. The man who was allegedly offered 200,000 crowns to carry out the killing has not been shy about giving interviews - Karel Rziepel is interviewed in almost all of the Czech dailies.

All of today's newspapers lead with the story of Mlada fronta Dnes journalist Sabina Slonkova and Karel Srba, former secretary at the Foreign Ministry, who was accused of hiring a contract killer to murder Slonkova. Several major newspapers also comment on Brno-based tractor manufacturer Zetor which plans to lay off some 650 employees this autumn.

The only thing today's front pages share in common is photos of the German Formula One racing driver Michael Schumacher grinning as he celebrates his fifth victory in the World Championship. Otherwise, the stories are quite varied.

All today's newspapers report on the split of the Coalition of Christian Democrats and the Freedom Union. The two parties, which have just formed a new government with the Social Democrats, said they will go into the senate elections in the autumn separately. The Coalition no longer exists, Pravo quotes a Freedom Union representative. However, the parties WILL stay side by side in the government.
