Rob Cameron's guest on this week's One on One is Helena Baker, one of the Czech Republic's leading experts on wine. Helena has visited a range of wine regions across Europe and also the United States and South Africa. She's taken part in a number of international wine tasting competitions and in 2001 she co-founded a female circle of wine lovers called "Ladies of Wine". She's also the author of several guides to wine, available in Czech and English, most recently the New Guide to Wine and Wine-making in the Czech Republic 2006.

Today we meet Jan Kaplicky, who is regarded by many as the greatest Czech architect of his generation. Readers in the UK will surely know his amazing Selfridges building in Birmingham. But although Jan Kaplicky has won world renown for the work of his London-based company Future Systems, he has found himself somewhat at odds with the establishment here in the Czech Republic. Mr Kaplicky was born in Prague in 1937, and when we met recently he first told me something about his family background.

This coming Friday sees the start of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. The Czech Republic is sending a record 82 competitors to the games, which are sure to capture the public imagination here - especially if the Czech ice hockey team do well. To discuss Czech chances in Turin I visited the headquarters of the Czech Olympic Committee, to meet the organisation's secretary general, Petr Hrubec. Mr Hrubec first told me about Prague's unique place in the history of the Winter Olympics.

While no means as famous as his older sibling, Ivan Havel is an important figure in the Czech academic community, as well as the editor-in-chief of the prestigious science magazine Vesmir. Lady Luisa Abrahams, who died last week at the age of 95, was a truly remarkable woman. Born Luisa Kramerova in 1910 she grew up in the Prague district of Bubenec, where her father ran a hospital. A leading ladies golfer in pre-war Czechoslovakia, Lady Luisa stayed in the UK, where she had gone to play a tournament, when World War II broke out. She spent the rest of her life in Britain, but always maintained close contacts with her home country.

The Jezek and Cisek theatre here in Prague is most unusual in that all of its members either are homeless or have spent time on the streets in the past. Its dramaturg, or artistic director, is a young man called Petr Sourek. I caught up with Petr after a recent show at Prague's NoD club, and began by asking him to tell me a bit about the history of the Jezek and Cisek theatre group.
