Rob Cameron's guest in this week's One on One is the young author and screenwriter Adam Daniel Mezei. Son of a Slovak father (from Kosice) and a Russian mother who was raised in the Ukraine and Poland, Adam was born in Toronto but now lives in Prague, a city which has provided inspiration for his latest book of short stories - We Are the New Bohemians, his second published work.

The independent street artist Honza Kalab, who goes by the name of Point, has put up scores of sculptures on buildings around Prague. His pieces, made from gypsum, come in various colours but take the same form, with the letters of his pseudonym arranged to look like a little dragon. Honza Kalab's studio is a cold, disused electricity transformer station in Prague 9. When we met there, I began by asking how many of his sculptures he has put up in the capital?

In today's One on One Jan's guest is Zdenek Lukes, one of the country's most respected architectural historians, employed at the Office of the President's heritage section overseeing Prague Castle. Mr Lukes first began working there in 1990 and in our interview recalls changes that he's seen, the fate of a secret atomic bunker, and a famous visit by the "world's greatest rock n' roll band". The Czech daily Lidove Noviny recently published details of a little-known footnote in Cold War history; browsing through the archives of Czechoslovakia's communist-era secret police or StB, the paper discovered that among the foreign journalists regularly followed on his trips to Prague was one Frederick Forsyth. The unusually named Varhan Orchestrovic Bauer (varhany means pipe organ in Czech, while Orchestrovic is derived from the word orchestra) is a well-known Czech conductor and composer whose work has featured in a number of cutting-edge films including the mock documentary Czech Dream.
