Pavla Horakova's guest this week is young Czech film director and screenwriter Marek Dobes. This year Marek released his first feature film called "Choking Hazard" which also screened at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.

Rob Cameron's guest in this week's One on One is Dr Jan Pfeiffer, a psychiatrist and leading advocate of reform for mental health care. As head of the Centre for Mental Health Care Development, Dr Pfeiffer is striving to outlaw such practices as keeping patients in cage or net beds, a practice which has been abandoned in much of the developed world. The Czech Health Ministry recently banned such beds in psychiatric institutions after protests in the international media. My guest this week is American Bryn Perkins, a Geology major from L.A. who lived in Alaska and travelled through Europe in 2000 before settling in Prague. Since then Bryn has tackled the Czech language as well as launched a number of businesses, most recently the Prague Daily Monitor - a daily website offering a broad synthesis of stories in English about the Czech Republic from a variety of different sources including Radio Prague.

Rob Cameron's guest in this week's One on One is Frank Haughton, who set up a number of Irish bars in Prague over the last decade. Originally from Wicklow in Ireland, Frank left his job as a stockbroker to come to Prague. Today he owns just one bar - Caffrey's, on the Old Town Square - and it was there that Rob caught up with him to talk about starting out in the early 90s, the stag party invasion, and the Czech thirst for Irish culture.

The late Olga Szantova was for many listeners, for many years, THE voice of Radio Prague. Sunday was the first anniversary of Olga's death, and to mark the occasion I spoke to her daughter, Eva Novakova, who is an MP for the Social Democratic Party. We did get around to discussing Eva's own career, but I first asked her if she ever used to visit Olga here at the station as a young girl.

Our guest in this week's One on One is Robert Stastny, head of the Transport Ministry's road safety department - or BESIP as it's known in Czech. The Czech Republic has a fairly poor record of deaths and injuries on the roads, and as Robert Stastny says, many of those casualties are preventable. All this summer the department is running a special campaign aimed at improving safety on the roads, concentrating in particular on encouraging people to always wear their seatbelts.

In 1991 Czechoslovakia first signed an agreement with Washington establishing a Fulbright Commission in Prague - guaranteeing the possibility for Czech lecturers and students to win scholarships to U.S. universities - as well as providing for outstanding American students and teachers to study and work in the Czech Republic. Hana Rambouskova is the Commission's Program Coordinator in Prague. Recently she sat down with Radio Prague to tell us about the Fulbright program and its importance here.

Our guest in this week's One on One is Todd Benson, co-founder of the online city guide and web portal Prague TV. Todd, an American who grew up in England and the U.S., came to Prague after graduating from college, and - like many foreigners - decided to start a new life in the Czech capital. Rob Cameron spoke to Todd recently, about the pros and cons of Prague life, some of the more controversial classified ads on his website, and dreams of one day being able to live a bit closer to the ocean.

Katerina Hellstrom is a young Czech woman who works as an economics lecturer in the Swedish capital, Stockholm. When we met at a busy café a short walk from the city centre, the conversation took in everything from Vikings to business cards to the Czech accounting system. But I first asked Katerina if she had studied economics at home in the Czech Republic.

Ivan Jonas, the head of the Czech-Slovak-Swedish Society, lives just outside Stockholm. He retired recently, but for many years he worked as an engineer at the well known Swedish company Ericsson. While many of the Czechs in Sweden left Czechoslovakia after the Soviet invasion of 1968, Ivan Jonas stayed in Prague until 1971. When we met at a Stockholm tea-room, he said he and his friends had hoped to offer some kind of resistance to the Communist authorities after the invasion.
