Members of the Czech scouting movement are marking the 50th anniversary the movement’s short-lived revival in communist Czechoslovakia in 1968. The scouts were banned a total of three times in their more than 100-year-long history in the Czech lands: first by the Nazis and then twice by the Communist regime.

The celebrated French actress Catherine Deneuve, one of the best-known names in international cinema, has received a lifetime achievement award, the Kristian Award for her contribution to world cinematography, at the 25th annual Febio Fest in Prague. The star of films such as Belle de Jour, The Last Metro, and Indochina, arrived in Prague for the close of the festival.

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš has said the Czech Republic may expel a number of Russian diplomats over the attack on a former double agent and his daughter in Britain. The prime minister made the statement at the end of an EU summit in Brussels which debated a common strategy over the incident.
