Czech Radio recently launched a new Science and Technology station - Leonardo. At the moment you can only listen via the Internet, but in a few months Leonardo will become one of the first in the country to be broadcast digitally, rather than on classic radio waves. We spoke to Radio Prague's director Miroslav Krupicka about the beginnings of the Czech Republic's digital revolution.

After a two-month holiday, children around the Czech Republic went back to school on Thursday morning. Compared to this time last year the number of school pupils has dropped by over 30,000.

Prague's Orloj, or Astronomical Clock, is one of the city's major tourist attractions. But for the next two months some visitors may be disappointed to find the clock is out of action: it's about to undergo its first repairs for over a decade. Ludvik Hainz is a well-known Prague clockmaker - indeed, his family have been taking care of the Astronomical Clock since the 1860s. I asked him why the work was being done now, not during the winter when there are fewer tourists.

The Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra here at Czech Radio, is one of the leading ensembles in the country and will be entering its 79th concert season this Friday. Radio Prague spoke to Jan Simon, executive director and soloist in residence, to see how the orchestra has been faring and what it has in store for us.

The Czech Finance Ministry announced on Tuesday that the country wants to adopt the euro by 2010, around a year later than previously planned. The news came as little surprise - some officials have been admitting for some time that 2010 is the earliest date feasible, and even that, say analysts, is optimistic.

Steadfastly maintaining his innocence, former top prime ministerial aide Zdenek Dolezel, sacked after being caught on hidden camera soliciting a bribe, now says in his defence that he was "speaking in code", aware that his conversations might be wiretapped. But Dolezel has offered no explanation for his on-camera remarks that alleged kickbacks to his one-time boss -- former Prime Minister Stanislav Gross -- were the "right direction" for securing a half-billion dollar privatisation deal.

September 1st is the beginning of the new school year. For many kids though the generally carefree mood on the first day is tinged with a hidden fear - the dread of bullying.

Prague is not just the city with a thousand spires but also a modern place that guarantees round the clock fun. That's how City Hall is introducing the Czech capital to the world. In a three-minute clip, it takes the attention away from the country's famed liquid bread to present it as a place of dynamic and sophisticated entertainment.

Earlier in her career she enjoyed greater popularity but there's no question Education Minister Petra Buzkova, just 39, remains one of the most recognised Czech politicians. At times her popularity was phenomenal and former President Vaclav Havel even suggested in the past she would make "an excellent president". But, politically, recent years have been less kind. And, when Ms Buzkova announced on Monday she would be bowing out, it didn't come wholly as a surprise.

Over the last few days the Czech Republic has been hosting quite an unusual gathering of visitors. They're the people who take care of some of the finest palates in the world. Since 1977, the Club des Chefs des Chefs brings together the chefs of monarchs, presidents and prime ministers. This year their annual meeting is taking place in Prague.
