Michal Zitko, the man who published the first complete Czech translation of Adolf Hitler's manifesto "Mein Kampf" three years ago, stood trial again in Prague on Wednesday. He had already been sentenced before for supporting or promoting a movement that aids the suppression of the rights of man. But, his three-year suspended sentence was struck down by the Supreme Court last year, when the prosecution was unable to specify which movement Mr Zitko had allegedly promoted by publishing Hitler's book. Czech Airlines pilots have announced they will go on strike as of next Tuesday after management said it would not give in to their demand for 170 percent higher wages in the next two years and improved contracts. Technical and ground staff are to decide on Monday whether they will back the pilots' association in a strike that would paralyze Prague's main international airport.

Education is the theme of a major conference being held in the Czech capital this weekend. The Prague Forum on Education Management and Funding will be attended by experts from North America and all over Europe, both East and West. Among them will be American professor Marc Ellenbogen. When he came into our studio, Professor Ellenbogen told us what issues would top the agenda at the conference.

While thousands of Czechs fought bravely for the Royal Air Force during World War II, the British media has recently carried reports about one Czech pilot who was far from a hero. Augustin Preucil was a Nazi spy who managed to infiltrate the RAF before stealing one of their war planes for the Germans.

Just two days to go until Czechs vote on whether to join the European Union, and the government's "Yes" campaign is in its final stages. But there are a number of other groups who've launched their own campaigns - either for or against joining the EU. The world of Czech music resounded with a sad note on Monday. That's when it lost a legend as YoYo Band singer and pianist Vladimir Tesarik died at the age of 55 in a Prague hospital. He had suffered head injuries from a recent cycling accident in the capital city. Along with his band he brought reggae music into the limelight in former Czechoslovakia and went on to receive great acclaim in the Czech Republic.

The Prague Castle Guard has found itself at the centre of yet another scandal. After a case in 2002 in which an army psychologist was found guilty of sexually abusing members of the castle guard, it has now come to light that in May nine members of the prestigious unit posed for a gay pornographic web site. Dressed, or partially dressed, in their castle uniforms. An incident that few in the military will be too happy about.

President Vaclav Klaus appeared on Czech Radio on Monday afternoon, urging the Czech people to take part in this weekend's EU referendum. But what Mr Klaus, often described as a Euro-sceptic, didn't say, was whether people should vote "Yes" or "No".

Electrical energy in the Czech Republic is going green. That is the case in two regions of the country, where locals can now opt for energy generated from alternative, recycled sources. Sources that include wind and solar, as well as small hydroelectric power stations. Though environmentally friendly electrical energy is rather common in Western European countries, such as the Netherlands, Great Britain and Germany, the Czech Republic has only just started its journey down the "green" path.
