Monday night saw the announcement of this year's Emmy television awards in the United States, and among the winners was a Czech-Slovak co-production called "Nicholas Winton - the Power of Good." The film tells the extraordinary tale of a British diplomat who helped around 700 Jewish children escape Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia in 1939. The children never saw their parents again, while Nicholas Winton never talked about what he did for fifty years. The NATO summit might be well and truly over, but the discussion continues as to what the meeting brought to Prague - good and bad. One person very much in favour of hosting the summit was Martin Jahn, General Director of the CzechInvest agency, which promotes foreign investment in the Czech Republic. We asked Martin how the summit had made the country a more attractive place to do business.

The former US Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright, was back in her native city of Prague over the weekend, this time as an elder stateswoman rather than in the fray of the NATO summit itself. But, once a politician always a politician, and she did also have something to say about the summit, and the decision to admit seven new members:

One of the most significant results of the NATO summit held last week in Prague was NATO's invitation for seven countries in Central and Eastern Europe to join the alliance in 2004. One of them is Slovakia, formerly part of Czechoslovakia, together with the Czech Republic, which became a NATO member three years ago. "Give Peace a Chance" is a discussion forum that was held in Prague parallel to the NATO summit. Bringing together a number of experts, it discussed topics varying from human rights issues to the use of armaments. One of the topics discussed at the forum was the arms industry and the possibilities for changing the terms of the arms trade. Dita Asiedu was at the seminar and brings back this report:

The Prague Nato Summit came to an end on Friday afternoon, with the second day's agenda including meetings of the NATO-Russia Council, the NATO-Ukraine Commission and the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council. Parallel to the NATO leaders' discussions, a student forum called the Prague Atlantic Student Summit is taking place at the Congress Centre in Prague. Over 180 undergraduate and graduate students from more than 35 NATO and partner countries have gathered in Prague to discuss the future of the Alliance and the new security challenges it faces.
