The controversy and disputes surrounding the Temelin nuclear power plant in South Bohemia continue unabated. On Tuesday the Austrian Parliament passed an extensive resolution against Temelin, that again links the issue to Czech EU accession. has this report:

A joint US-Czech trade mission to the United States will leave Prague on Saturday and visit the midwestern city of Chicago. The trade mission was announced at a press conference at the American embassy in Prague on Tuesday, and is co-sponsored by the NGO American Friends of the Czech Republic, and CzechInvest, the company in charge of attracting foreign investment to the Czech Republic. The mission will consist of ten Czech companies from the electronics sector who are looking to build trade links in the United States. Radio Prague's spoke to Judith Garber, the First Secretary of the American embassy, and asked her first of all why Chicago had been chosen for the trade mission:

With time running out before the controversial Temelin nuclear power plant in South Bohemia is due to go on line, opposition to the plant continues. This time, however, the opposition is not from Austria, but from representatives of green parties from around Europe, who have put forward a resolution to the European Parliament to discuss Temelin later this week. has this report:

A request for forgiveness was heard for the very first time on Friday, September 1st in the district around the former village of Lezaky. Lezaky was destroyed by the Nazis in June 1942, and 33 adults were shot dead without trial.
