Many of those who grew up in the late 1970s and 1980s in the West well remember the golden age of arcade video games: 8-bit and later 16-bit graphics and excellent sound that was the apex of electronic gaming and game design then. Since 2011, anyone in the Czech Republic wishing to experience what it was like can do so easily - at the the Arcade Museum in Červený Újezd just outside of Prague.

Last week, Radio Prague covered the UK’s NoFit State Circus at the Letní Letná festival of contemporary circus; this week we continue by looking at some other events and productions underway.

Prague's Letná Park this Sunday sees the return of the Letní Letná festival of contemporary circus - now in its 12th year. Over more than two weeks, visitors will be able to view some of the very best that New Circus has to offer - beginning with an acclaimed production, entitled Bianco, by the Cardiff-based company NoFit State Circus.

A travelling exhibition entitled The Bible: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow, on in the eastern city of Ostrava, is giving visitors the opportunity to view than 500 different versions of the “Good Book” but also other items including Biblical prints by Rembrandt.

In this week’s Arts, meet SKUTR – the acclaimed directing duo Martin Kukučka and Lukáš Trpišovský. They directed one of the hits of the summer cultural calendar, Romeo and Juliet, at Prague Castle.

In this week’s Arts, our guest is young up-and-coming filmmaker Andy Fehu, whose feature debut Greedy Tiffany will be shown in a midnight screening at the 50th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. The film follows the story of a no-good lout who learns about lost treasure.

Last year, Czech-British artist Míla Fürstová made international headlines for her design of the cover of Coldplay’s newest album, Ghost Stories – an etching of an angel’s wing over starry waters. Recently, the artist opened a new exhibition in the Czech Republic and was interviewed by Radio Prague’s editor-in-chief, Mirek Krupička. In Part 2 of our 2 part interview, he began by asking about Míla’s start in Great Britain.

Fifteen years ago, the Czech-American couple of Mirek Trejtnar and Leah Gaffen founded Puppets in Prague, offering workshops for international students on the design and production of Czech handmade puppets and marionettes. Since then, their workshops have become a staple of the local theatre scene. This weekend, you can see some of their puppets in performances around the city at Teatrotoc.

This Saturday, June 13, sees the 12th annual Prague Museum Night, when dozens of museums and other cultural institutions will remain open to visitors long after closing. One venue which is participating is the Karel Zeman Museum – dedicated to the work of one of Czechoslovakia’s greatest animators and film innovators.
