Many Irish plays have appeared in Czech theatres in the last decade or so, in what has been something of a boom for Irish drama in the Czech Republic. The latest is A Skull in Connemara by Martin McDonagh, which recently received its Czech language premiere at Prague's Svandovo Divadlo.

The Jeden Svet (One World) festival of human rights documentaries is run by the NGO People in Need. This year's One World, featuring over 120 films, has just come to an end in Prague, and now moves on to the provinces. In this edition of the Arts we speak to the man behind the colourful festival and many of this year's guests.

Hadej Kdo by Czech hip-hop act Indy & Wich was one of the most eagerly awaited recent new releases. This latest offering by the rapper Indy and the DJ-producer Wich is the first recording in nearly five years by the popular duo, who were largely credited with bringing hip-hop to a mainstream Czech audience with their successful debut album My 3 or Us 3. Romano Hiphop is the title of the latest CD by the Czech Romany rap artist Gipsy. The album is actually released under the name Gipsy.cz, because this time he has collaborated in a group project with other Romany musicians. When I met Gipsy in a Prague café, he told me why - unlike on his previous release Ya Favourite CD Rom - he had incorporated traditional Gypsy music this time round.

The Czech Republic has many claims to fame but one of its greatest and most curious regarding the arts is the country's unique history of Cubist architecture, celebrated in an exhibition and recent new book named "Czech Architectural Cubism". In many ways, the 007 music club is a unique piece of Prague's cultural heritage. Situated in block seven of a row of concrete panelled buildings, which comprised the athletes' village constructed for the communist games in the 1960s, it has been a venue for alternative, underground music for nearly 20 years.
