Sestka - or "the Six" - is an ongoing series of exhibitions at the Prague House of Photography, featuring work by up-and-coming photographers from six of the country's most important photography schools, including AVU's New Media Studio and Prague's FAMU film academy. But, at the moment, the gallery is showing an installation by students and graduates from Usti nad Labem's University of J.E. Purkyne, in north Bohemia. The opening was held shortly before the start of the holidays.

Coming up in this week's programme - the eagerly-awaited release of Jiri Menzel's adaptation of I Served The King Of England by the legendary Czech author Bohumil Hrabal. And four young Czech women bring the sounds of Africa to the heart of Central Europe - the Yellow Sisters talk about Mayan oracles, Gambian rhythms and their new album, Singalana.

In this week's edition of the Arts I'll be speaking to a modern-day troubadour - a half-Czech, half-English female troubadour, who sings in eight different languages and borrows inspiration from the folk traditions of countries as diverse as France, Bulgaria, Russia and Ireland. Her name's Katus.

In this week's edition - playwright Vaclav Havel takes New York by storm in a major retrospective of his works, and also picks up the theatre awards he was denied for more than two decades. And the highly successful Czech film Kolya celebrates its tenth anniversary.

A new exhibition at Prague's Wallenstein Riding School displays some 400 paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints from the 14th to 18th centuries. Divided into three periods - the Golden Age of the Luxembourgs, the Glamour of Rudolfine Prague, and the Baroque Flamboyance of Monasteries and Palaces. Dita Asiedu toured the exhibition with its main curator Vit Vlnas.

Prague's Obecni Dum (Municipal House) is one of the Czech Republic's greatest Art Nouveau jewels. Now, however, it is home to an exhibition of a different but related art movement - decadent art. The extensive show's full title is "In Morbid Colours: Art and the Idea of Decadence in the Czech Lands 1880 - 1914".

Support Lesbiens headed by frontman Krystof Michal are one of the Czech Republic's most well-known bands which - with the exception of a major five year hiatus - have been around since the early 90s. In this week's Arts, we visit the Mirror Chapel of Prague's Clementinum, where a new exhibition has just opened. It is part of the MOZART PRAGUE 2006 project launched this year to mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of the great Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

In the Arts this week we look at Prague's annual Music on Film - Film on Music festival or MOFFOM as it's known, which was held for the third time last week. This year's festival was bigger and better than ever, and brought dozens of films about music to the Czech capital. These ranged from classic full-length features like Julien Temple's The Great Rock 'n'Roll Swindle starring The Sex Pistols to documentaries, experimental movies and promotional videos.

Six years ago Czech film director David Ondricek scored a huge hit in the Czech Republic with the film "Samotari" - or "Loners" - a hip and funny comedy depicting the quirky and wayward lives of twentysomethings in the Czech capital. Ever since, audiences have come to expect a lot from the director -more so following the disappointment that was his third film "One Hand Can't Clap". Now, the director is back with "Grand Hotel" (Grandhotel in Czech) - just released in the cinemas. What's the film about? In today's Arts you'll find out.
