Social Democrat “faction for change” meets in Tabor

Social Democrat members critical of the party’s leadership met in Tabor on Saturday to debate the situation within the party in the wake of its election debacle in the last general elections and propose changes.

Close to 200 members have joined a new platform to "save the party" established by former regional governors Jiri Zimola and Michal Hasek. They are pushing for greater democracy in decision-making, arguing that all party members should elect a new leader at the party’s election conference in February and saying that all members should decide on whether the Social Democrats should join or support the new government.
