| Subject of the stamp: | Easter eggs are an essential attribute of the Easter holidays and a major picture of traditional folk art dating back already to the 14th century. They symbolize the spring revival of the nature and its generative forces. The two basic ways of their decoration are still alive: the older one is colouring of full eggs without ornamental decoration, the other one is colouring of either full or emptied eggs and their ornamental decoration. The most spread decoration techniques are batik, scratching and plastic shaping. The most frequently used decorative elements are geometric motifs and schematic plant motifs. | |
