| Subject of the stamp: | Since the 1996 application for the EU membership the Czech Republic has concentrated its relationships with the European Union on the accession process. The Accession Treaty was signed in April 2003 in Athens. On May 1, 2004 the Czech Republic and nine other states - Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia, Malta and Cyprus - will become full members of the European Union, thus increasing the number of the EU members to 25. The Czech Republic will take a firm position in all European institutions and by the negotiating tables. |
