| Subject of the stamp: | after twelve years Prague, and also Ostrava, will again become the venue of the ice-hockey world championship. The world championship matches which are to take place in the period from April 24 to May 9, 2004 will be played between 16 teams divided at the beginning of the championship into four groups. The Czech team will play the group matches against Germany, Latvia and Kazachstan. During the period of existence of the Czech Republic the Czech hockey players won three titles of the world champions and a title of the Olympic games winners. The stamp with 4 players represents the combative and technically demanding nature of this sport which together with football belongs to the most popular sports in the Czech Republic. | |
