Most of the largely gabled buildings, in the South Bohemian vernacular baroque style, were built in 1846 - 86, but the mediaeval layout of the village was retained. One of the best complexes of popular rural architecture is built on a regular gothic floor plan. In 1998, the village was added to the UNESCO world cultural and natural heritage list thanks to its unique character and charm.
