Zlin
Lying east of the Morava River, along the Drevnice River in southwest
Moravia, Zlin is not
just another factory town, it's the ultimate factory town. But its roots
go back to 1332, when the first written record of the town exists. The
town experienced some growth in the 16th century, when local bourgeoisie
rebuilt their houses after the devastation of the Hussite Wars, and the
town still sports the Renaissance church tower, town hall and some additions
to the castle. But the majority of Zlin bears the unmistakeable stamp of
the late-19th century industrialization that made it what it is.
