Most

MostMost is one of the most ecologically damaged towns in the Czech Republic, as it lies on the border of the area where a lot of surface coal mining takes place. Due to the boom in coal mining over the past thirty years, the landscape around the city is basically denuded of life. Most of the surrounding villages were leveled, Libkovice being the most recent and famous one. During the winter, smog-choked Most turns into a ghost town as people are advised to stay at home with their windows tightly sealed. As with Most, the situation in a large part of the region resembles the surface of the moon more than a region with a rich history and the center of the hops industry, so crucial for the production of most brands of Czech beer. The Usti region is also a well-known center of prostitution in the Czech Republic along the E55 motorway to Germany.
