Krkonoše - The Giant Mountains

The Giant Mountains are the highest and most famous mountains in the Czech Republic. They are situated in north-east Bohemia on the border between the Czech Republic and Poland. The Czech part of the Giant Mountains is more extensive than the polish side. The highest mountain, Sněžka (1602 m), is on the border. The Giant Mountains are made up of two ridges. The first of these is the Hraniční Ridge. The state border goes along this ridge and most of the highest mountain can be found there. The second is the Czech Ridge. The border between eastern and western Giant Mountains is created by the valley of the River Labe (Elbe) near Špindlerův Mlýn.
